For twenty years, marketers treated the homepage like sacred ground, but your homepage is dead. AI killed it.
It was the front door. The first impression. The carefully crafted welcome mat designed to introduce visitors to your brand, explain what you do, and guide people toward the next step.
Businesses spent months tweaking headlines, redesigning layouts, and debating button colors because everyone assumed visitors would begin their journey there.
Then AI changed the rules.
Today, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google’s AI Mode, and other AI systems rarely care about your homepage.
When someone asks a question, AI doesn’t send them to your beautifully designed front door.
It sends them directly to the answer.
That answer might live on a blog post you wrote two years ago. It might be buried inside a product page, a forgotten FAQ, a case study, or an article you haven’t looked at since publishing it. AI systems aren’t thinking about your site architecture or customer journey. They’re looking for the most relevant page and dropping visitors directly onto it.
The homepage used to be the beginning of the customer journey.
Now it’s often bypassed entirely.
That’s a much bigger shift than most marketers realize.
Because every page on your website is now a potential first impression.
The visitor arriving from an AI recommendation may know absolutely nothing about your company. They haven’t read your About page. They haven’t explored your navigation. They haven’t followed the carefully planned sequence you designed.
They’ve landed on one page and they’re making a decision.
In seconds.
That means every important page on your site now has a second job. It can’t simply answer a question or describe a product. It must also explain who you are, establish credibility, communicate value, and provide a logical next step.
Here’s a simple exercise: Open your ten most-visited pages.
Now imagine a complete stranger landing on each one cold.
- Would they know who you are?
- Would they trust you?
- Would they understand why your business is different?
- Would they know what to do next?
Most websites fail that test.
The companies that win in the AI era won’t just optimize their homepages…
…They’ll optimize every doorway.
Because increasingly, that’s where the customer journey begins.
So how am I harnessing AI on my blog?
I am using an automation tool that helps me to rank my blog posts on Google and ChatGPT.
Now in case you wonder about specific posts, remember that I have over 600 posts on this blog, and of course, if they were all sent to Google at once that would be spamming. So it’s done at a steady pace. Every week an AI agent goes through to report on, and tweak, my blog to make it more AI friendly.
As to the software itself, almost every week there are new features being added that we’re updated on. It’s amazing.
I have written a more detailed review elsewhere so you can learn more about Rightblogger here.
However, I can hardly keep up with the enhancements, so the best way is to take a free trial of it yourself and learn what it can do for you – tap here.
