As I was writing my email today…
…I spotted something interesting in one of the businesses in my little collection of income streams
It’s the one I mostly share by email, and here on my blog
Nothing fancy. I write an email to my subscribers, I send it, I get on with my day.
But today, while I was putting that email together, I spotted something that made me ‘stop the scroll’ as they say.
Email Marketing Success
One of my team had landed on the leaderboard, because this week he had made $555 in sales.
So of course I went looking (curiosity got the better of me) and I found another person from my team with sales of over $2,900.
I sat back and smiled because here’s what I like best.
The feeling of helping someone find a business that’s working for them never gets old.
Other than introducing them to this business, I played very little part in their success.
Yes, I sent them follow-up emails, and so did the program creator.
But for them to make those sales, I didn’t write their emails. I didn’t build their email lists. I didn’t sit beside them late at night when they wondered if any of it would work.
THEY did it. They took the information they requested, used what they learned, and started earning.
That seems to me to be the whole difference.
Email Marketing Consistency
Plenty of people learn things. Courses get bought, videos get watched, notes get taken. Then life gets busy and the notebook ends up in a drawer. I have to confess I’ve been guilty of that in the past.
Learning FEELS like progress, but using what you learned, consistently, IS progress.
Those are two very different things.
The other thing to consider is, your strategy. It’s not good being consistent if you’re following the wrong path, and what you’re doing isn’t working.
For several months I spent time on Facebook, trying to interest people in my business – because that’s what previous training courses had recommended.
But (a) I hated it (b) it wasn’t productive – I might as well have spent the time enjoying a good read, or a chat with friends.
So I switched strategy, and moved to email and blogging.
Online Income From Email
An aside, I noticed when I looked at the really top earners, the 5-figure earners.
They did it by emailing the lists they worked at building over the years, starting from zero – just as I, and my team started.
They weren’t chasing the next shiny thing or waiting for the perfect moment. They were just quietly, consistently showing up in people’s inboxes.
Good for them. I really admire their dedication and consistency in building their email list.
Not everyone on my team has numbers like those – yet. Some have smaller sales. Some are just getting started.
And they deserve every bit as much respect. Because showing up and doing the work while the results are still small takes real grit. The big numbers usually come after a long stretch of small ones nobody claps for. So if you’re in that building phase right now, I have every respect for you too.
You’re the kind of person who keeps going, and that counts for more than you might think.
Lessons about online success from today
1) Use what you’ve learned, even if it feels imperfect.
2) Build your own list, and look after it, from that very first subscriber.
3) Keep showing up, especially when nobody’s watching.

I’d love to be celebrating your success too.
But please – don’t just let the information sit, unopened, in your email inbox. Apply it consistently, so that you can join the winners in my team on the leaderboard.

I don’t know your circumstances or your work ethic so I cannot guarantee your success. However, if you work hard at the business you may earn more than me, or even more than the leaders.
