Scary News and Important News

thanks-col-pxScary news – it’s suddenly December, and time to round up November by thanking my comment authors and giving you chance to catch up on any posts you missed.

The important news is that my Mum is home from hospital and she and my Dad are happily together again. Although they are both “fragile”, we’re all in a happier place than we were last month.

Business Networking

Other news is that I have joined an offline business networking group (Links4Growth). It’s not one of these organizations where you have to pay mega-bucks, speak each week, and find substitutes if you miss a meeting. There are a variety of different style meetings to suit every possibility – breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evenings. Having only just joined my first meeting is next week.

Holiday in Spain

house313x171Another – good! – reason I am “behind” is that I spent a week in Spain staying at my son’s apartment / business.

Even in November the weather was warm enough to walk about without a coat, although it wasn’t scorching (which was good!)

It was wonderful to catch up with the family and hear that the business is going well.

Summary of November’s Posts

Although still not completely back up to speed, I managed 2 posts this month:

Why Internet Startups Fail included an infographic listing 10 reasons why 90% of new online businesses fail in their first four months. I added my own experiences, and readers chipped in with their own thoughts.

Avoiding Distractions From Your Business – obviously prompted by my last couple of months – reflected on the type of distractions (good and bad) that throw us off course, and looked at some ways to stay focused.

Thanks to My Comment Authors in November

So all that remains to round off the month is to thank those who left great comments and made my blog a more interesting place to be. Hope to see you again soon – and I will be visiting YOUR blogs too!

  1. Hi Joy,

Thank you for the kind mention, and I didn’t know I’d been here that often…lol… 🙂

Honestly speaking, it’s always through your posts, which reach my email the first thing every 1st I think, that I remember about Comment authors too! I just keep commenting as and when I see a post (most of the time!) – So a good reminder for all of us too.

Good to know about your parents, and I am glad they are together now. Ah…you took a week off to Spain, and that must be a lot of fun, and a much needed break for you too. It’s getting colder our end, and perhaps yours too now.

Thanks for this list – have a nice week ahead 🙂

    • Hi Harleena

It’s good old Google Calendar that gives me my monthly nudge to send the Comment Authors email otherwise I would surely forget. I just can’t believe how quickly the months come round!

It’s also a good way for me to look back on my own productivity (posts) through the month and see if I have hit my target of one a week. Not been very good of late, but hey, who’s perfect? Not me LOL

Spain was a lovely, and much needed, break. It’s very cold here now – well not compared to many places, but I have the heating on and an extra jumper.

Thanks for coming back to comment, Joy

  2. Hi, Joy,

It is scary that December is upon us – oh my has that year gone fast!

Your important news is such a blessing, and I’m very glad to hear that. You’re parents will be in my prayers.

Interesting about the business networking – please keep us posted as to how you like it.

Wonderful to hear you spent some time in Spain and that the weather was nice – good for you!

Glad things are back on track with your parents, that’s a wonderful feeling going into the Christmas season.

I’ll be talking to you soon,
    – Carol

    • Hi Carol

Just can’t believe it’s December – and of course that brings its own built-in distractions. It took me AGES yesterday afternoon to print out Christmas card labels. Sure I could have written them more quickly 🙁

It will be lovely to see Mum and Dad over Christmas as we really didn’t think Mum would make it. Spain was good too – so it’s a well that I am reminded of the good points about the month.

Business networking should make a post for December – or more likely January!

Enjoy the rest of your week, Joy

    Hi Joy,

I can’t believe it is December. Where has this year gone. First and foremost I am glad things are better for your family and everyone is together. That is truly a blessing!

Good luck on your offline business networking group. I am glad I am glad to have had the opportunity to connect with and I definitely plan to get over here a lot in December, as I really like your blog and your content.

Thank you for sharing this post with us today.

    • Yes, thanks it IS a relief!

I’ll be sure to do a post about the offline business networking group – sort of blog commenting offline I suppse!

Will look forward to seeing you over here – and also to me reading more of your very interesting posts.

      Joy

  4. Hi Joy,

I’m sorry I don’t know what happen with your mom but I’m glad to here that she’s back home with your dad. It’s good to hear that things are improving. Spain sounds amazing. It’s getting colder around here so I’m starting to miss no-jacket weather.

Thanks so cool that you can get a round up of your commenters.

    ~Lea

    • Hi Lea

My Mum had a six week stay in hospital – she’s in her 90s, so everything is wearing out 🙁

Anyway – happily she’s back now!

Great that you came over to my blog – thanks – I hope you’ll come again to see some of my other posts.

      Joy

  5. Linda Schrier

    Hi Joy,

I am glad to hear that your mum is doing better and you will see your parents at Christmas.

I love to travel, Spain must have been a blast. I’m planning a trip to England in February.

Let me know how your Offline Networking Business is going.

    Have a wonderful week.
    Linda

    • Hi Linda

Thanks for your good wishes for Mum.

Spain was great – and I go to see my family out there too. Hope you enjoy England. February not one of our “better” months, but we’re not renowned for our good weather!

Enjoy the rest of your week, Joy

  6. Gurwinder Singh

    Hi Joy,

I’m really glad to hear that your mom has returned home now and things are improving.

And I am sure you must have enjoyed your break as well. Thanks for the kind mention as well. I really appreciate that 🙂

    ~ Gurwinder Singh

    • Hi Gurwinder,

Yes, I was in need of a bit of good news and my holiday away. It’s been a bad year all round!

Good to see you on my blog again, and we’ll keep in touch. Joy

  7. Hi Joy,

So happy your Mom’s home and your Dad’s in better attitude. Also happy you were able to visit your Son in Spain.

Kudos on your progress with your Internet business, despite your distractions. Good job.

Thanks for including me within the laudatory list of commentators. I’m not worthy, to quote a line from a movie that I just didn’t get…
    Edward

    • Hi Edward,

The thanks are all mine, for your time visiting and commenting 🙂

I’m glad the first wave of distractions is over (fingers crossed), although my “day-job” clients are in need of some TLC. Hoping for a quiet spell over the holiday period to “regroup”.

      Have a great week, Joy
